KORO FILIPINO Launching Concert April 18, 2009. PhilAm Life Auditorium

The launching concert last April 18, 2009 was very much appreciated and well applauded by its most discriminating audience. Each of the choirs performed a song by five of the earliest Filipino choral composers namely, Nicanor Abelardo, Francisco Santiago, Antonio Molina, Lukresia Kasilag, and Lucio San Pedro to whom the concert was lovingly dedicated.

Six of its pioneer choirs were launched on stage by Koro Filipino: the Philippine Choral Guild at the Phil-Am Life Auditorium along U.N. Avenue in Manila. The following is a list of the newly launched six choirs:

Three of the Philippine choral music world's most prominent leaders graced the occasion and took part in the program. Prof. Fidel Calalang of the UST Singers, a member of the board of Koro Filipino, welcomed everyone with an inspiring opening speech citing the objectives of the organization and its importance in promoting choral music in the country. Prof. Chino Toledo of the Metro Manila Community Orchestra, being the chairman of the Board, awarded the certificates of pioneer membership to the participating choirs. And Prof. Eudenice Palaruan of the conducting department of the UP College of Music, and conductor of the former San Miguel Master Chorale, conducted the glorious mass choir rendition of Sa Mahal Kong Bayan as the final statement that Koro Filipino desires to impress in its audience that night. Koro Filipino members are one in this statement: that the Philippines is our country. We love our own culture, our own music, our own people and we want everybody to know that we are one. Koro Filipino is committed in upgrading the general music status of choral performers and performances. It is engaged in the research and development of New Filipino Music and caters to the intelligent exchange of musical ideas. Join the Koro Filipino and be part of a national pride.
