Philippine Choral Open

Koro Filipino: The Philippine Choral Guild announces the opening of the first Philippine Choral Open. This competition aims to give young composers the opportunity to redefine the possibilities of choral singing.
MECHANICS OF THE COMPETITION
ELIGIBILITY
1. The competition is open to all Philippine-born composers.
2. Applicants must at least be 21-35 years old by 01 April 2010. A proof of birth must be submitted to the organizers.
ENTRIES
1. All entries must be 10-12 minutes long.
2. All songs may be written in any Filipino dialect only.
3. Works may be written in the following configurations:
- SATB (Adult Mixed)
- SAB (Youth Choir)
- Female Voices (Adult, Youth or Children)
- Adult Male Chorus
4. Compositions may be accompanied or unaccompanied. Only a piano will be provided by the organizers. Should the piece require other instruments, the composer takes full responsibility in providing for his/her performers. Only hand-held or easy to carry instruments are allowed.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Accomplished application form (downloadable from the www.philippinechoralguild.com).
2. Hard and soft copy of the following:
- Photo (Hi-Res)
- Profile (not more than 200 words)
- Description of the piece to be entered (not more than 200 words)

- Color and Texture
- Structure
AWARD TITLES
- Composer of the Year Award
- Choir of the Year (Best interpretation of a composition)
- Public’s Choice Award for Composition
- Public’s Choice Award for Choir
